Silene Capensis is also known as White Ways or White Paths because when naturally born dream diviners are first initiated with this plant ally, they see white lines like stars in the air/ space in front of them while awake. This phenomenon only occurs in those with a dream diviner destiny and usually only during the first initiations. A beautiful, pure white and delicate night flowering plant, Silene Capensis grows on the edges of rivers and is traditionally harvested only when a dream diviner has received a dream from her telling them where it is located and to pick it. The roots are used in Ubulawu, Xhosa medicines, where they are agitated in water to create a foam that is used in Dream diviner initiation rituals. This foam forms because of the saponins in the root, which are key to the function of the herb.
