CACAO BUTTER
Cacao Butter is the nutrient rich triglyceride fat pressed from the delicious cacao bean, leaving behind the cacao powder. Cacao butter retains the intoxicating aroma of chocolate and melts at skin temperature, making it perfect for use in our balms and Dewy Fruit. It is what makes chocolate creamy and smooth while it also contains many phytonutrients that are great for skin. It contains polyphenol antioxidants, vitamins E, K, A, B2, B1, B3, C, D2, choline, magnesium, potassium, phosphorus, zinc iron and copper. No wonder the Maya call the Cacao bean the food of the gods. Several of these vitamins help collagen and elastin production, skin healing and repair.
Rich with Polyphenol Antioxidants
Polyphenols are a type of plant antioxidant. Studies on polyphenols show they neutralize free radicals which can reduce signs of aging or skin stress like fine lines, dark spots, dullness, stretch marks and loss of elasticity. Polyphenols are also anti inflammatory which is why cacao butter is often used to soothe irritated skin and dermatitis.
Deep Moisturizer and Nutrient Carrier
It is an excellent moisturizer filled with fatty acids, that penetrate deeply into the dermal layers and form a barrier to keep moisture in, along with oleic, stearic and palmitic acids that nourish the skin. Cacao butter helps our other phyto-actives be carried into the tissues.
Our Cacao Butter is certified organic and fair trade. We do not use deodorized or fragranced cacao butter. The real thing smells amazing, is high quality and filled with phytonutrients that contribute to the effectiveness of our products.

MINERAL CRYSTAL SALTS
Some of our products are made using spagyric alchemy methods, which extract herbs into 3 parts then reunite them again in the alchemical marriage. Once this alchemical process has been done, the extracts are truly full spectrum and bioavailable.
Salt Sulfur and Mercury
The 3 parts are the mineral salts (salt, the body), the oils (sulphur, the soul) and the rest of the actives like carboxylic acids (mercury, the spirit). The only way to obtain the mineral salts is by fire, through calcination. After extractions for oils or actives are done, with fermentations, or alcohol and / or steam and hydro distillation, the herbs are calcined down to pure white ash in a non toxic crucible. The white ash is then filtered and from it we grow crystals in the lab. These gorgeous crystals are the mineral salts that were in the herbs and consist mostly of electrolytes like potassium and magnesium. Growing the crystals is one of the most beautiful and important steps in spagyric alchemy, as the electrolytes are key to making the medicine more bioavailable and taking the medicinal actives to the next level, whether in a liquid internal or in a topical product.
Alchemical Marriage
When the crystal salts are reunited with the other extracts, they potentiate a chemical reaction that develops new medicinal compounds by evolving the actives in the mix. This is a topic of exciting research in spagyric chemistry at this time. It is called the alchemical marriage and can be exciting to watch. Once a plant is harvested and separated in extraction of the 3 parts of salt (body), sulphur (soul) and mercury (spirit), it has died. When we recombine the 3 parts, by adding the salt back in creating the alchemical marriage, we reanimate the spirit and soul with a new purified body, bringing it back to a new life, in an evolved form. Double bubble. We will be making and using more spagyric tinctures, liquid extracts and ingredients for our topicals because they are so good. A spagyric is as full spectrum, medicinally active and holistic as a herbal medicine can get. We also take into account the medical astrology for the plant’s planetary ruler and the medicinal functions for the end product.

MEI GUI HUA - ROSE BUDS
With sweet, slightly bitter and warm properties, rose buds not only look and smell beautiful, their long association with the heart is medicinal too. If taken internally they help to circulate the blood and move Liver Qi, which can be experienced as relieving stress, tension, irritability, anger or depression. Roses help the heart in many ways assisting with emotional pain as well as physical pain by moving what is stuck in the qi and blood, entering the Liver and Spleen.
Pain and Stress Relief:
Blood stagnation can result in pain, menstrual pain, skin eruptions, chest pain or stifling sensation, stuck emotions and or be a result of traumatic injury. The scent of rose has been observed by researchers to release endorphins and dopamine, lower cortisol and blood pressure and relax increased heart or breathing rates. The scent of a rose is unmistakably lifting, evocative, freshly floral, inspiring of romance and relaxation with its depth and light.
Antioxidant, Antimicrobial and Great for the Skin:
The great diversity of phenolics, phenolic acids, flavonoids, tannins and carotenoids determine its antioxidant and antimicrobial properties and its ability to calm, smoothe, clean and rejuvenate the skin. It is rich in vitamins A, C, D and E, antioxidants and minerals which help reduce fine lines and heal blemishes and broken capillaries. Rose oil is helpful for dry skin while its astringent properties help to balance acne, redness and inflammations. You can’t miss it in our Balancing Skin Toner, with the herbal blend leading to an exotic caramelized rose scent.

HUANG QI - ASTRAGALUS
One of the most used and prized herbs in both the eastern and western materia medica, Huang Qi is considered superb and potent as it offers a wide variety of functions. It is a warm, sweet root that tonifies QI and blood as a bidirectional adaptogenic, lung and spleen qi, raises yang qi and strengthens the function of wei qi, which is often translated as our preventive immunity. It can promote immunity, respiratory health, digestive function, metabolic functions, fluid elimination, urination, skin elimination, healing of infections, wounds or sores, promotes healthy and beautiful skin while improving one’s overall health and energy particularly to the muscles.
Astragaloside IV
Astragalosides are active constituents in astragalus /huang qi, called cycloartane type triterpene glycosides. Of particular interest is astragaloside IV (4) because it stimulates telomerase, which in turn can lengthen telomeres. As we age our telomeres shorten and finding ways to lengthen them has an overall healing, regenerative and anti-aging effect on the body. Astragaloside IV is also known to have anti-inflammation, anti-oxidant, anti-viral, anti-hyperglycemic, neuroprotection, neurogenesis, gastroprotection,cardioprotective, anti-chromic asthma and anti-apoptotic properties. We use this herb in our skincare products as well as some of our liquid herbal formulas and spagyric extracts. We use a variety of extraction methods with Huang Qi to ensure the optimal form is used in each product.
